“Through”. That’s the inspiration for this week’s photo challenge from WordPress. Humm… Physically speaking? Emotionally through? A passage? A rite of passage? Too many different interpretations for this one single theme. What’s “through” for you? For me, it means passage, strategy, possibilities to overcome challenges…
Since we’re getting through one more week, let’s see how it goes regarding the challenge:

A detailed view from a particular site at the Reuben Island Prison, South Africa - many tried to escape through...
And finally, walking through the excited crowd, experiencing the largest street carnival in the world!

You really did a wonderful job on this blog post. All of your photographs are wonderful. I love the first one. I am such a sucker for Mother Nature. I also loved that man-made stair on the rock cliff … it would come in handy for my style of rock-climbing for sure. Thanks for sharing these moments, I enjoyed browsing your memories.

Talk about Cape Town, so… lovely… cosmopolitan… lively… with a gorgeous wine country… but going back to Reuben Island, I felt it was the kind of emotional/social journey one needs to take, once in a while…

Hey – we were!
Not bad, though! It’s from Carnival here in Recife, Brazil, on our walk to the Official Box, where we watched the parade – granted, the box is a built-in mini city, surrounded by walls, with a buffet service and beverages… much nicer (and safer!) than being down with the crowd.. but it could be a ton of fun, people say… I’m more of a watcher, than a walker!
Thanks for stopping by, Cobbies69!

I love the tree!
3rdCultureChildren
March 23, 2012 at 4:11 pm
Thank you… it’s an old tree by the Northeastern coast of Brazil, and its name in Portuguese could be translated as the “lazy tree”, because, due to time and wind speed, it ‘slowly’ went down to sleep… its roots are happily standing up in the air.. its one of the feel horizontal trees (still alive) in the world… Thanks for stopping by! If your curious, search “Jericoacoara” on the blog for more curious images on this unique piece of nature’s art!

Wow! Lazy tree – I like that
never thought of trees as being lazy. Anyway, great shot, and almost surreal.
