And I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be sharing their initiative and efforts! 😮

Girl Scout cookies are back and we are on those orders! In fact, this year, we are working together with Jill and Riley to spread the cookie goodness far and wide throughout the Foreign Service. We have made it terribly easy to enjoy those once-a-year treats that you buy en masse because they are so darn yummy (and ship well!).
To make it easy, I have copied the “how to” from Jill’s blog. Follow these simple instructions and you, too, could be enjoying those cookies very soon! And now…Spanish homework is calling again…

First and foremost, we don’t want to step on anyone’s toes, so our joint efforts are focused on providing Girl Scout Cookies solely to our Foreign Service friends overseas, where we can ship to an APO/FPO/DPO or pouch address. If you are our family members or personal friends and want to buy from us rather than from the little girlies who are SURE to knock on your door sometime in the next few months, that’s great too. We’ll send you an email invoice letting you know your totals.It’s THAT simple.We will be shipping the cookies in the USPS Flat Rate boxes. The current APO/FPO rate is $13.45 for a 12″ x 12″ x 5 1/2″ box … and we can fit 8 boxes of cookies in them. You’re more than welcome! I share the info with our CLO here, who is also one of the Girls Scouts leaders… she said it’s necessary to check into our post’s particular rules for pouching… something in regards to not being allowed to pouch items that would generate profit… Let’s see! 😮 Thanks for the initiative!

Hi! Just to be totally clear, this in no way generates profit. The only way to buy Girl Scout cookies is from a Girl Scout. We are merely offering the opportunity to purchase cookies to those with legitimate access to the APO/FPO/DPO/pouch systems, as we know that most overseas troops don’t sell cookies. We are not making a profit, in fact, both Jill and I lose money (from our wallets) on the shipping. However, we do it because we know what it’s like to be overseas and want that *taste of home!*
If your CLO has any questions, please have her write me directly at jdinoia(at)yahoo(dot)com. The only way it would go against pouch rules would be if someone resold them at post and we would not ship them out if we knew someone was doing that. These are personal purchases, just like one would buy from Amazon.com or Target.com. One of us has been doing this for 3 years now and this year I believe we are shipping to at least 30+ embassies and/or consulates.
Again, please feel free to have her contact me, I assure you (especially as the spouse of a DS agent), this is abosolutely allowed and goes against nothing in the FAM or any other rules set up. We are still taking orders and likely will be for a few weeks.
